Our Objective:
To provide a low-key weekend that will polish your rally skills while highlighting southern Illinois’ enjoyable sports-car roads and historic neighborhoods. Along the way, we’ll showcase some out-of-the-way crossroads communities and allow time for socializing—all in the hope that you will have as much fun participating in this weekend as we’ve had organizing it for you. For occasional rally teams, or for Regional rally teams, we believe these Divisional rallies will offer an easy introduction to the next step of SCCA road-rallying.

We will conduct our rallies in accordance with the SCCA’s Road Rally Rules (RRRs), 2025 Edition, as amended by our General Instructions for the weekend.The 2025 RRRs are available online in the rally section at scca.org as well as from Amazon.com.

If you will enjoy Monday, Sept. 1, as a holiday, we urge you spend an extra day in St. Louis and enjoy some of the great things our region has to offer. Actually, visit a day early, too. There’s a lot to see and do here. You won’t regret it.

The Principal Hotel is a delightful gem in the heart of historic Columbia, Ill. Developed on the grounds of the former Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and School, the hotel is the anchor of a new complex that includes a restaurant, coffeehouse (breakfast/lunch), hotel bar, swimming pool, patios, event space, meeting rooms, and sports bar (which, hopefully, will be open by Labor Day weekend). Main Street restaurants and pubs also are within easy walking distance of the hotel.

Also, if you choose to arrive Thursday, Aug. 28, the rate for Thursday evening is $98/night + tax.

When you register, the hotel will charge the first night’s stay + tax as a deposit, which is fully refundable if you cancel at least 24 hours ahead of your scheduled arrival.

Things to do: There are numerous good restaurants and inviting shops in Columbia, as well as several golf courses nearby. World Wide Technology Raceway and Fairmont Park (Fanduel Sportsbook & Horse Racing), are all a 20–40 minute drive from the hotel, as are the historic streets of nearby Belleville, Ill., as well as downtown St. Louis and the Gateway Arch. Sadly, the Cardinals are in Cincinnati most of Labor Day weekend, but if you linger through Labor Day, they are at home Sept. 1 for a 1:15 p.m. game against the (soon-to-be) Las Vegas Athletics.

Good things to know: Our rally headquarters offers easy access to St. Louis Lambert International Airport.

Timing and scoring:
Tulips by Night and the Lewis Carroll Twins will use Rich Bireta’s Richta GPS checkpoint system for timing and scoring. To compete, each participating team will need a smartphone or tablet with active data cellular service (no airplane mode and no wi-fi only devices!). The Richta Checkpoint app will report your arrival time and leg score to your cellphone or tablet moments after you pass each GPS checkpoint location. Entry Fees:
Weekend (all three days): $135.00 for SCCA member teams; $155.00 for nonmember teams, which includes a $20.00 Weekend Membership for the primary nonmember entrant—the person paying the entry fee—and a free SCCA Trial Membership for the co-entrant.

An SCCA member team is defined as one in which at least one member is a regular member of the SCCA. In such cases, the non-SCCA member will receive a free SCCA Trial Membership for the weekend. In a non-SCCA-member team, as noted, the primary entrant will receive a Weekend Membership and the co-entrant will receive a free Trial Membership.

Single-Day Entries:
$50.00 for SCCA member teams. A non-member team will be charged the $20.00 Weekend Membership fee only once during the weekend; that is, if the team, for example, enters both the Saturday and Sunday rallies, the team will pay the Weekend Member fee only once.

About Southern Illinois
Comprising the southern third of the state and beginning roughly south of Interstate 70, southern Illinois offers features distinct from other parts of the Land of Lincoln. The farther south one travels, the more “southern” the region becomes, a heritage of its early 19th-century immigrants from Kentucky and other parts of the upper antebellum south. As a home for SCCA rallying, the St. Louis and Southern Illinois Regions of the SCCA have explored the country lanes, roads, and highways of southern Illinois with great success since the founding of the two regions in the years after World War II. We will do so again in 2025, with great pleasure.
